EfFective interactions for the OplsOd nuclear shell - madel space
نویسنده
چکیده
Shell-model interactions are constructed in the cross-shell model space connecting the Op and ls0d shells with due regard for the perturbative efFects of the neighboring Os and Oflp shells. The interactions have three distinctive Op-shell, cross-shell, and 1sOd-shell parts. The latter is taken to be the previously determined W interaction. The Op-shell interaction is represented by two-body matrix elements and the cross-shell by either a potential or by two-body matrix elements. The interactions are determined by least-squares fits to 51 Oy-shell and 165 cross-shell binding energies. It is found that the addition of monopole terms to a potential that is otherwise similar to that of the Millener-Kurath interaction results in a great improvement in the fit. In the fit to two-body matrix elements, 45 of 97 possible linear combinations of parameters are varied and the root-mean-square deviation for the 165 cross-shell energies is 330 keV. Examples of the application of the interactions are given for the prediction of neutron-rich binding energies, Gamow-Teller decays, and 0~, 1h~,

Test of shell-model interactions for nuclear structure calculations.
Recently no-core shell-model calculations have been performed @1,2#, in which all nucleons are active, so there are no hole states. This approach avoids the use of shell-model effective interactions involving excitations from an inert core of nucleons ~e.g., the core-polarization process!, and thereby avoids the convergence problems of the standard effectiveinteraction approach @3#. In this pap...
متن کاملRealistic Effective Interactions and Nuclear Structure Calculations
We address the two main questions relevant to microscopic nuclear structure calculations starting from a free NN potential. These concern the accuracy of these kinds of calculations and the extent to which they depend on the potential used as input. Regarding the first question, we present some results obtained for nuclei around doubly magic Sn and Pb by making use of an effective interaction d...
متن کاملRenormalization Group Equation for Low Momentum Effective Nuclear Interactions
We consider two nonperturbative methods originally used to derive shell model effective interactions in nuclei. These methods have been applied to the two nucleon sector to obtain an energy independent effective interaction Vlow k, which preserves the low momentum half-on-shell T matrix and the deuteron pole, with a sharp cutoff imposed on all intermediate state momenta. We show that Vlow k sca...
متن کاملShell-model calculations and realistic effective interactions
A review is presented of the development and current status of nuclear shell-model calculations in which the two-body effective interaction between the valence nucleons is derived from the free nucleon-nucleon potential. The significant progress made in this field within the last decade is emphasized, in particular as regards the so-called Vlow−k approach to the renormalization of the bare nucl...
متن کاملEffect of nuclear structure on Type Ia supernova nucleosynthesis
Nuclear physics plays an important role in stellar evolution. Fusion, proton capture, and neutron capture are all examples of the importance of the electromagnetic interaction in creating energy that powers stars. Weak interactions in nuclei, including electron capture and β-decay, play an important role in the evolution of both Type Ia and II supernovae and their nucleosynthesis. In this brief...
